Narrowing Viglo's Focus
Only a vocab tool... for now

If you shop on Amazon, you can find pretty much ANYTHING on that web site. But, it wasn't always that way. Amazon's founder, Jeff Bezos, started out selling only books. After building some momentum doing that, it added cds and movies to it's catalogue because they shared a similar shape to books, and thus the logistics of shipping remained quite similar. The offerings continued to expand until you could use Amazon to fulfill any of your shopping needs. Jeff Bezos honed his business skills on a narrow scope (selling only books), becoming the best at it, and then expanded. I have treated Viglo in the opposite manner by trying to make our prompts cater to any of your Spanish needs.
I did narrow the scope to students with at least basic Spanish conversational skills, but after that, I wanted the student to be able to use Viglo to practice anything they need to improve on. Viglo had pre-prompts ready to use in ChatGPT that would produce drills for any kind of grammar issue, explanations on any Spanish topic (you would type in the correct way of saying something compared to the error you committed, and ChatGPT would explain why you were incorrect). and vocabulary exercises. During my calls, the only subject that would reliably get good outputs from ChatGPT were vocabulary topics. I spent countless hours trying to craft pre-prompts that would let me input any error I made and help me fix it, but during the calls, they just wouldn't be of any use. My Guides and myself would finish our Viglo calls frustrated and bored.
The vocab exercises on the other hand are very reliable, and so I will treat vocab exercises the way that Amazon treated books at the beginning, and I will make it my only offering on Viglo. As we grow and gain students, we will have more resources to develop pre-prompts that will serve all one's language needs, just like Amazon serves all of one's shopping needs.
