Language Meetups
A Viglo reconnaissance mission

Language meetups are really just a place for single people to find hook ups or dates with people from other nationalities, disguised by the supposed goal of learning a new language... spoken by a guy with experience. But generalizations above only apply to why people would attend these specific events, and don't mean the attendees aren't genuinely trying to learn another language in other settings. Next week I'll be going to go to a language meetup with Roxy just to scout out the best approach to finding those genuine Spanish learners and telling them about Viglo without giving off creepy salesman vibes. I will bring some business cards I had made up, but this is primarily a reconnaissance mission.
That reminds me... I never mentioned the business cards! The front end is self explanatory with the Viglo logo and my contact information. On the backside I used AI to generate a man-child holding a phone to represent how I feel when I use other language apps. I'm hoping the image on the back will cause a chuckle that helps Viglo's vision reign true in the card-holder's mind. In the next post I will show my first use of the cards when I was in New York City a bit ago.
UPDATE (OCTOBER 13, 2023)
Roxy and I went to a language meet up and met some interesting and nice people, but I didn't see a strong opportunity for Viglo to be displayed at the event. It got very crowded and noisy, and just had a bunch of people chatting. Doesn't mean there's never a reason to go back and promote Viglo (maybe one day I could return to one with a table and my computer, and have Spanish learners try Viglo on the spot), but I think my time would be better spent trying to get Viglo promoted at the short-term Spanish classes, as I write about here.
